Starks Technology Services
About STS

Built on service. Driven by mission.

Starks Technology Services exists because cybersecurity shouldn't be a luxury reserved for Fortune 500 companies. Every organization, from a 20-person nonprofit to a state government agency, deserves security operations that match the threat landscape they actually face.

Our Founder

Bryan Starks

Bryan Starks didn't start STS because he saw a market opportunity. He started it because he saw organizations, schools, hospitals, small businesses, government agencies, getting left behind by a cybersecurity industry that only wanted to serve enterprises with seven-figure budgets.

Drawing on the discipline and operational mindset of military service, Bryan built STS around a different premise: that security operations, compliance guidance, and workforce development should be delivered with the same rigor regardless of the client's size. That a veteran-owned firm should operate with the integrity and mission-focus that military service demands.

Today, STS serves organizations across Texas and beyond, from DIR-certified government contracts to CompTIA certification programs that have launched hundreds of cybersecurity careers. The company Bryan built on his kitchen table now operates as a security operations partner for organizations that need more than a vendor. They need a team that cares whether the mission succeeds.

Our Philosophy

The Three D's.

Everything we do maps to three operating principles.

Determination

We don't just advise on security. We operate it. From 24/7 threat monitoring to incident response, we stand between your organization and the adversaries who never stop looking for a way in.

Dedication

The cybersecurity workforce gap is 3.5 million people wide. We're closing it, one certification, one career pathway, one veteran transition at a time. Building the people who build the defenses.

Discipline

Results that auditors respect and boards understand. Every engagement maps to a recognized framework, every metric proves value, and every recommendation comes with a clear path to implementation.

Mission

Strengthen the cybersecurity posture of every organization we serve. Develop the workforce that defends them. Deliver AI governance that makes innovation safe.

Not because it's profitable. Because it's necessary. The organizations we protect serve communities, educate students, heal patients, and defend the nation. Their missions matter more than our margins.

Vision

A world where every organization operates with confidence in their security, compliance, and technological readiness.

Where the quality of your cybersecurity doesn't depend on the size of your budget. Where AI is adopted responsibly by default. Where the cybersecurity workforce reflects the diversity and mission-drive of the communities it protects.

How we operate.

Mission Over Margin

We exist to protect organizations and develop the workforce, not to maximize billable hours. If a client doesn't need a service, we say so.

Transparency by Default

No black boxes. Every recommendation maps to a framework, every metric is verifiable, and every report shows the work behind the conclusion.

Continuous Improvement

Security isn't a project with a finish line. We build programs that evolve, because the threat landscape certainly does.

Education First

We teach before we sell. Our content, tools, and assessments are designed to make every organization smarter about security, whether they become a client or not.

Our Journey

Seven years of building.

2019

Starks Was Formed

Bryan Starks launches Starks Technology Services in the DFW metroplex, a veteran-owned cybersecurity consultancy built on the principle that enterprise-grade security should be accessible to every organization.

2020

CMMC Journey

As the Department of Defense rolls out the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, STS goes deep on the framework, building the assessment and readiness capability that defense contractors would soon need.

2021

Joined Texas Hub

STS joins the Texas Hub, connecting with the regional network of technology and workforce partners that would shape its public sector and community work.

2022

Government Practice Expands

Federal and state contracts expand the public sector practice. VetHub partnerships create pathways for veterans entering cybersecurity careers.

2023

AI Governance Practice

As AI transforms every industry, STS launches dedicated AI governance services: risk assessments, policy development, and executive workshops aligned with the NIST AI RMF.

2024

Training Division Launches

Recognizing that security tools are only as good as the people operating them, STS launches its training division and begins its workforce development mission in earnest.

2025

DIR Certification & CompTIA Partnership

Approved as a Texas Department of Information Resources vendor, opening the door to state agency and local government contracts across Texas, and formalized as a CompTIA partner delivering industry-recognized certification programs.

Veteran Commitment

Service doesn't end at discharge.

As a veteran-owned business, STS is committed to the proposition that military service creates exactly the kind of people cybersecurity needs: disciplined, mission-focused, and comfortable operating under pressure. Our veteran programs don't just train skills. They build careers.
